Vietnamese dominate the nail business
As majority of you might noticed that, especially female readers here, Vietnamese taking over the nail business across the country literally. I meant majority of Vietnamese immigrants. At least 9 out of 10 in my personal calculation, not sure about the real statistics counting yet. Most people I knew who is Vietnamese were into the nail business. If they don’t do it, their family members are into it.
In the early 2000, or late 90s, some Vietnamese learn about the nail business, and they earn a license from it as a viable employment. During that period of time, people are willing to spend money to beautify themselves. With manicure, pedicure, full - set of nails, and etc…. A friend of mine, whose family make big bucks from nail business from the late 90s. Now, they have 2 stores in different locations. They did pretty good. I also heard some people say that, some of them earn an average of $3,000 to $4,000 monthly. Because their major income is from customers tips; and they don’t contribute much of tax too; due to the fact they make money in real cash.
It seems that business was doing pretty good, and more people see into it as a promising business. So, more and more people want to share the slice of the market pie. Store after store was open. It spread out literally every shopping center has a nail salon available for nail services. Now, it is a saturated business.
Moreover, although it earns a lot more money in the early 2000s. Some of my friends told me that some people might not be able to stand the chemical smell of these nail polish. That is one catch to work in nail business. Overall, this business is in a saturated period, and not many people be able to earn a high wage this time. Bur Vietnamese still dominate this business.
