can two people speak different languages fall in love?

Published by jzbrynn at 8:02 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Here is the question I have to ask, can two people, both of them from totally different background, and they have totally different culture. Of course, they speak different languages, the only common language for them to be able to communicate is English, since I am talking about live in the States here. Would they possibly fall in love and having a happy marriage?

I am not saying theoretically it is impossible, would it be easy to achieve? The first obstacle they have to tumble down is the family. Most likely, the family is the first one who will against it. Most parents want their children to marry their own kind, to keep the lineage line going. They will strongly oppose the cross - cultural relationship. For instance, a friend of mine, who is a Chinese, and his love is a Hispanic. Their relationship was opposed by the family fiercely.

What about communication between the couples. Sometimes, not all of these couples speak perfect English as their common language. They might misunderstood on some conversation. Some conversation might anger the other. Sometimes, listening with your heart is the key to a solution.

Friends. The couple both might have their own circle of friends. What if some their friends don’t speak English at all. That might cause a little problem to get along with each other’s friend as another obstacle to consider.

Sometimes, develop a cross - cultural relationship might be easy to say, but it is hard to make it come true. I hope that everyone will truly find their own true love in life.

It’s hard enough with two people who speak the same language to have a successful relationship these days. Sure it’s possible for two people speaking different languages to make it work, but I think unlikely and exponentially difficult with all the added barriers. Might I ask what spurred this question?
