Mexican Cuisines

There are more and more Mexican shopping centers and stores launched their businesses in Atlanta here. They formed their own community around these shopping centers. When you driving along the road, either on Cobb Parkway, or South Cobb Drive area, you will see numerous Mexican restaurants on both side of the road. I have to admit that, Mexican cuisine gains its popularity in the recent years. Such as Mexico Lindo, On the Border, Pollo Loco are the famous ones among the few.

Once a friend of mine brought me to an authentic Mexican restaurant in Buford HWY, it is called “El Norteno”, its feature featuring dish is Pollo Asado along other most - demanded main dishes. I ordered a dish that I didn’t even know its name, but it come with chicken thighs, beans, and marinated rice with sauce, and the indispensable of Tortillas. The first taste was okay, and I didn’t want too many spice on my dish. The drink I ordered was called “horchata”, recommended by a friend of mine. It was famous in Mexico. I definitely need to try to see how it taste. It was milk mixed with rice, and blended to juice. Serving in cold, taste really awesome. It was my all time favorite drink so far. I like the “Horchata” over the main dish, since the food I order wasn’t that special.

A fast food restaurant I went to frequently with my best friend is called “Taco Veloz”. It has drive through, so we won’t be needed to make order inside. Usually, she makes order, because none of those servers speak English I figured. My all - time favorite from this restaurant is “Chile relleno del queso”, and “Taco Lengua”, and also “Super Nachos”, “burritos”. They are all come with spicy, and tasty. The price from Taco Veloz is a little bit pricey for a fast food restaurant. But I still give it 4 stars. All they serve many kinds of cold drinks besides soda. Such as “agua de mango”, “horchata”, “agaua de pina”, they are my favorite drinks. We went there 3 times a month at least when we go out.

Another fast food restaurant that I recommend is called “Torta Loca”, they famous by the Torta dishes. I like this restaurant because they have good quality of food, and they sandwish usually come in with large quantity. There are limited choices of Taco dishes. Usually you have to order inside, and there is no drive through convenience. Most of the servers don’t speak much English. Once, my best friend wants me to make an order; she advised me to give the a piece paper to the server, in case she doesn’t understand what I want. They also serve all the blended cold drinks just like “Taco Veloz”.

There are also many popular mexican restaurants around the corner here, and the food just awesome. The funny thing is, the majority of patrons are the mexicans themselves, I seldomly see any foreigners go into the Mexican restaurants. Possibly we haven’t adapted to latino cuisine yet, or the neighborhood environment prevents the popularity of these restaurants.
