The booming Hispanic population
Sometimes, you drive along the street, you will see a cluster of Mexican stand by the gas station, or a space along the roadside, waiting for jobs. They are the free labor, they will do any chores, from house improvements to heavy labor to earn money. Once, a friend of mine hired two Mexican laborers to help with moving his furniture to his new house. The labor fee is cheaper than hiring a moving company if you have a moving truck to contain all the furniture. The Two Mexicans we hire were hard - working laborers too, they help move all the heavy stuff, and never get rest. At the end of the day, I tried to talk to them in a little Spanish, since I have learned it for a while. They told me that have a family in Mexico, but they couldn’t find any job back in their hometown. Both of them have 2 kids need to feed. Out of sympathy, my friend gave them each one $70 and invited them on lunch.
There are plenty of laborers out there, freelance, and they only charge cheaper price. This situation might infuriate a lot of local legal citizens. Because these illegal alien came here illegally, and they never pay taxes. Eventually, they took over their jobs. Still, they are hard - workers, and they are willing to take over the jobs that our most people deem low - level. Such as chicken factory, most Mexicans are willing to pluck chick feather in the factory. Construction jobs, hard work, no matter how hot out there, you have to finish the project with a fine work done. In restaurant, they are willing to mop the floor, wash dish to make a meager living. Once, I asked an English - speaking white Caucasian girl, if she couldn’t find a job instantly, will you consider work at the factory. The answer she gave me is “No”, she rather strip her clothes off in a dancing club to earn money from men than working in a hard condition like that. Although this situation is not applying to every one here, but this instance makes the differences between our legal citizens here and the illegal immigrants, like the Hispanic population.
Even though most of them are hard working laborers, they still without the legal paperwork. Illegal is illegal. In the recent years, INS trying to catch these illegal immigrants periodically, either send them back from the borders or charge a load of money out of their pockets. I heard some Mexican been saying, sometimes they were caught, but they can be bailed out by paying some money. There is a case I heard from my co-worker, she was living at California, and she had neighbor who is Mexican. She been living in the States over 25 years or longer. She bought the house with her blood - earning money, and now she has 3 kids who is born here. Last year, she was deported because she doesn’t have a legal paperwork. Left her 3 kids and a house. She commented, out of leniency, the government should grant her a paperwork, since she been here so long, and makes her pay tax like everybody else.
The Hispanic population is increasing constantly, more and more Mexican illegal immigrants cross the border day and day. To handle this situation, I can’t make any judgement, because they are coming to make a living or some other reason. but the overflow of overdue population should be managed by other way.
